Overview
As a Radiology Tech, you will play a critical role in the healthcare team by performing diagnostic imaging examinations on patients to help doctors diagnose and treat various medical conditions. Your expertise in medical imaging technology and patient care will be essential in ensuring accurate and high-quality images for diagnosis. You will contribute significantly to the well-being of patients and the overall functioning of the healthcare facility.
Key responsibilities
Performing diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and mammograms
Preparing patients for radiology procedures and ensuring their comfort and safety
Operating and maintaining diagnostic imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance
Following radiation safety protocols and ensuring proper use of protective equipment
Assisting radiologists and other medical professionals during imaging procedures
Maintaining accurate patient records and imaging files for reference and analysis
Communicating effectively with patients to explain procedures and address concerns
Collaborating with the healthcare team to coordinate and prioritize imaging requests
Adhering to ethical and professional standards in radiology practice
Participating in quality assurance initiatives to maintain imaging standards and protocols
Continuously updating knowledge and skills in radiology technology and advancements
Participating in training and mentoring of new radiology staff as needed
Responding to emergencies and urgent imaging needs with efficiency and composure
Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards in radiology
Supporting a positive and collaborative work environment within the radiology department
Required qualifications
Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
Proven experience in performing diagnostic imaging procedures in a healthcare setting
Proficiency in operating X-ray, CT, MRI, and mammography equipment
Excellent understanding of radiology principles and imaging protocols
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple imaging requests effectively
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in image acquisition and analysis
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with patients and healthcare professionals
Adherence to radiation safety standards and best practices
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment
Commitment to professional development and continuing education in radiology
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call hours
Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct and patient-centered care
