Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Position Summary:
The Radiologic Technologist will work under the supervision of the Director and/or designee, performing routine and special procedure imaging. This role involves preparing patients, assisting Radiologists, operating and maintaining imaging equipment, and adhering to established standards of care and radiation protection principles. The Technologist will also ensure quality assurance and provide exceptional patient care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Understand and adhere to Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
- Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, ensuring proper documentation.
- Produce high-quality technical images, reviewing completed exams for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist physicians during practice-based procedures as necessary.
- Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed; order supplies.
- May be required to work holidays, overtime, and/or shifts to maintain adequate coverage for the outpatient facility.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and report equipment malfunctions to Bio Med or supervisor.
- Process images or print CDs when needed.
- Perform routine office tasks, including answering phones, checking in patients, and obtaining previous reports/films.
- Show Radiologist films and communicate reports to attending physicians, documenting communications as necessary.
- Provide clinical instruction to students.
- Treat all staff and patients professionally and courteously, upholding WPH’s behavioral standards.
- Introduce self and educate patients and family members about the examination.
- Provide care based on age, physical, and psychosocial needs for diverse patient populations, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
- Attend staff meetings and in-services, and perform other related duties as required.
- Coverage rotation to other outpatient sites may be required.
- Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the offsite practice.
- Position is eligible for specialty certification compensation.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
- NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.
- Certification through ARRT-RT and/or registered RT (R).
- Continuing education: 24 CE credits over two years.
- DOH IV certification preferred or to be completed during a 6-month orientation.
- BLS certification through the AHA required within 90 days of hire.
- Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the ACR performed during orientation and before the end of the probationary period.

- May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks; refer to the hospital's SDS database for details.
- Ability to move about freely at least 85% of the time.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
- Frequently move/transports objects up to fifty (50) pounds and assist in moving patients of all weights.
- Work in an environment with continuous interruptions and adapt to rapidly changing situational needs.
- Must be able to detect sounds and respond to emergency sounds/signals at all times.
- Constantly operate computers and other devices, concentrating on fine detail despite interruptions.
