GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES - Under the direction of a Physician, the Radiology Tech performs a variety of diagnostic radiographic procedures in compliance with established protocols to promote positive patient outcomes.
Pay: $34/hour
Hours of Operation: W-F 800 am - 430 pm
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by keeping up with continuing education and continuing to learn.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
- Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
- Works with other clinical staff and physician to deliver exceptional patient care
- Fill out all of the required paperwork for each procedure or radiographic exam including any studies that the facility may be participating in.
- Schedule patients for upcoming appointments/procedures
- Assist in retrieving and stocking supplies for procedures
- Perform other duties as needed
Knowledge, Skills, & Ability:
- Knowledge in detecting adverse symptomology relating to procedures or contrast related problems.
- Ability to set-up and operate a diverse variety of radiographic equipment.
- Displays knowledge of the theory, techniques of radiography, the operation and care of radiographic equipment and the principles of radiation safety.
- Displays high degree of working knowledge of the imaging equipment utilized.
- Knowledge of, observes, and complies with Center safety policies, emergency procedures, and standard precautions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to read, follow and comprehend both written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions and seeks guidance as needed.
- Demonstrates ability to complete work within appropriate time frame and perform accurately and in a timely manner in periods of increased workloads and high stress.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of work practices, policies, and procedures.
- C -arm experience
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an American Medical Association approved program in Radiology Technology
- Current ARRT certification as well as Indiana State License
- Current CPR certification.
