Ranch Hand at Mark's Machine Co., Inc.

         Ranch hands  are manual laborers who perform a variety of tasks on ranches and agricultural facilities. Their duties include:

• Animal husbandry

Caring for livestock, including feeding calves, and herding cattle to pastures

• Agricultural duties

Operating and maintaining farm equipment, planting forage crops, mowing and baling hay, and irrigating and applying fertilizer or chemicals

• Maintenance and repair work

Fixing fences, cutting trees, leveling and seeding the ground, and performing regular and directed field maintenance.

• Other duties

Collecting and chopping firewood, driving, loading, and unloading semi-trucks, building corrals, shipping cows, and winterizing equipment and ranch facilities 

Ranch hands often work long days and outdoors. 

Ranch hands may be exposed to work in high, precarious places;  climb or balance; near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. 

The top three skills for a ranch hand include harvest, farm work, and farm machinery.
