Job Title: Range Maintenance I - Golf
Department: Golf (Links and Tees)
Reports to: Golf Building and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor
Job Class: Non-Exempt, Seasonal (29 hours per week), Part-time (19 hours per week a year around), not to exceed 1000 hours a year.
Salary: $13.00 per hour (New Pay rate $15.00 p/hour starting January 2024)
Position Summary:
The Range Maintenance I is responsible for performing a variety of facility and golf labor duties to maintain and/or repair park property, facility, or equipment. Work is performed at a moderate, constant pace, but may vary depending on the demands of the job requires under the direct supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates Golf Equipment, which may include golf carts, weed whips, and push mowers.
- Maintains both landscape and turf, including hand mowing, trimming, and seeding.
- Performs landscape maintenance to include watering, weeding, and planting of flowers, trees, and shrubs.
- Completes routine cleaning and minor repair of mowers and other equipment as needed.
- Removes all refuse and trash from indoor and outdoor facilities as necessary.
- Assists with horticulture tasks.
- Assists with annual maintenance of buildings, painting, carpet cleaning, floor care.
- Performs snow removal from walks, and drives.
- Perform other duties and functions as assigned.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret and adheres to all policies and procedures outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual, Personnel Policy Manual, and Safety Manual.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all general and department-specific safety rules.
- Immediately reports all accidents and unsafe conditions (i.e., Hazards) to the supervisor.
- Cooperates and assists in the investigation of accidents.
- Attends all required safety programs and in-service training meetings.
- Treats public complaints and concerns with the utmost attention, Is courteous in all cases.
- Pays strict attention to housekeeping of work area(s) and general facility.

Required Qualifications:
- High school graduate with two years of demonstrated experience in a field related to Park District maintenance.
- Must be 16 years old age.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Facility is an environment in which alcohol sales take place.
- Duties will be performed in the presence of the general population and or patrons in public areas.
- Sitting - occasionally Walking - minimum of 2 miles Standing - frequently.
- Lifting - heavy, 0 - 75 lbs. Stooping - frequently Reaching - frequently.
- Climbing - occasionally Kneeling - occasionally Driving - frequently.
- Work area is both indoors, in a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting, and outdoors at the golf course, driving range and miniature golf.
- Frequent exposure to natural and potentially extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, snow, rain and ice while attending to job related activities.
- Exposure to various chemicals (i.e., fertilizers, weed killers, pond chemicals, cleaning agents, and oil fuels).
- Exposure to noise distractions from employees, patrons, or equipment operation.
- Exposure to sun for extended periods of time.
- Protective clothing and equipment are required as it pertains to a particular job duty and may include earplugs, or ear covers, helmets, respirators, safety goggles/glasses, chaps, leather type work boots, protective gloves, and disposable overalls.
- Workers are allowed and encouraged to use mechanical or manual assists for lifting above 50 lbs. as a guideline. Working in teams also provides assistance with heavier activities.
