Job Summary
The Rangeland Management Specialist II at Chloeta serves on the Environmental Team within the Infrastructure and Environment (INE) Vertical on a team of interdisciplinary natural science professionals. The position will primarily develop conservation plans for landowners as part of grazing permit transfers that will be approved by the United States Government (USG).

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation:
Chloeta reserves the right to offer any candidate above or below the listed compensation amount based on experience or business needs.
$62,500.00-$70,000.00
Pay commensurate with experience.

Duties/Responsibilities
Composing and editing comprehensive natural resources conservation plans
Identify and prescribe specific management actions and conservation practices that address current resource concerns
Ensure sustainable agricultural production of livestock grazing compartments within Open Range federal lands
Ensure conservation plans are in place to conduct livestock grazing operations in accordance with the principles of sustained yield management, agricultural resource management planning, sound conservation practices and other community goals
Develop conservation plans consistent with regulations that specifies the conservation and management objectives and goals of the land user, landowner(s) and the USG
Develop conservation plans that are specific to land use, grazing management unit and for term covered by each grazing permit
Develop feasible management options that yield acceptable economic returns and conservation benefits by considering the land user’s management objectives, goals, and capabilities, as well as prevailing economic conditions (commodity process, production costs, etc.)
Enable producers to use the information to participate in government incentive programs and/or implement range improvements, identify, and provide information to the USG for well-informed decisions on livestock grazing permitting
Serves as rangeland consultant and advisor to numerous ranchers and farmers in the assigned area of responsibility.
Provides individual landowners' evaluations of their resources, identifies problems, and proposes short and/or long-term land Improvement alternatives.
Provides guidance, assistance, and training to field and/or area office personnel to ensure that conservation plans on cooperating farms and ranches provide for the application of technically accurate and adequate practices and measures

Required Skills and Abilities
Ability to utilizeUSG templates to create conversation plans for landowners in the Southwestern U.S.
Understanding of, or ability to learn, federal land management grazing permit policies and procedures
Ability to read and interpret provided Agricultural Resource Management Plans (ARMP) and Integrated Resource Management Plans (IRMP)
Required Education and Experience
Required:Bachelor's degree in Range Management, Natural Resources Management, Rangeland Ecology, Rangeland Science or a related field within Agriculture or Environmental Science
- Required:Familiarity with determining stocking rates of rangeland or open range grazing units
Preferred: Two (2) years of rangeland management experience
Preferred: Experience in natural resources management for or in coordination with federally recognized tribes
Preferred:Assisting in the development of grazing management systems on grazing lands (i.e.rangelands, pasturelands); Assisting with forage inventories; Assisting in the implementation of vegetative management practices; Experience working with livestock operations

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
This job operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
Occasional site visits in a range/field environment may be required to meet with the client or relevant producer(s) with grazing permits issued by the client
Travel
Occasional overnight travel, up to 25% of the time, for site visits, client meetings, or stakeholder engagement.
