This position assists in various job responsibilities for Valley Senior Services throughout Ransom and Sargent counties for persons aged 60 and over. Duties will include providing information about Valley Senior Services nutrition and transportation programs and determining eligibility for the Meals on Wheels program. In addition to working in an office setting and doing home visits, they may assist with meal preparation for the senior meal program and driving for the county transit as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:

• Engage with and educate the community on services offered through Valley Senior Services
• Help clients identify current and future needs
• Explore various options of support
• Provide information regarding community resources
• Work with community partners and coordinate service referrals
• Protect client identity and confidentiality
• Point of contact for home delivered meal and resource services
• Initial determination and annual reassessment of client eligibility through database documentation
• Assist clients in accessing programs and services available through federal, state, and local agencies
• Support planning and coordination of Meals on Wheels delivery program
• Act as fill in substitute cook should the need arise
• Substitute driver for county transit if necessary
• Support the organization as needed.

• Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
• Updates and enhances own knowledge by involvement in continuing education for professional growth, i.e., attends relevant conferences, seminars, in-service trainings and certification programs.

Required Experience:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or human services field or equivalent work experience preferred
• Previous experience working with seniors preferred

CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to an automobile
