About the Job
The Information Technology Department has a paid internship to support its Converged Installation & Maintenance division.
The intern will gain a further understating of the cross-functional, hands-on, inter-working of a large-scale enterprise business. The department's core support technologies are Cisco and Microsoft suites, offering near full-scale use of their product library.
The in-person student internship position consists of a workweek of 20-40 hours per week for 6 months with a possibility of being extended.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Under supervision, assists and participates in the work performed by employees of a specific profession; through participation, receives supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation; and performs other related duties as required.
The CIM Field Support performs the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the county telephone, data, backup power, audio-visual and paging systems. This position consists of approximately 95% work outside of the main office. The technicians travel to customer locations performing the work described above.
The intern will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Installing routers, switches, wireless access points (WAP), uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems
- Providing field support working alongside of the NCC over the phone to troubleshoot routers, switches, Wi-Fi, network connectivity...
- Installing new VoIP phones
- Troubleshooting VoIP phones, UPS power systems, faxes, analog phone lines
- Patching network jacks
- Cross-connecting data and voice analog and digital circuits
- Preventive maintenance
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average: 2.5GPA required. Proof of most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application .
Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school at an accredited college or university in a Bachelor's degree program or preparing to transfer to a Bachelor's program during the entire duration of the internship.
Areas of Study : Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar
Minimum Qualifications:
- Drivers License and drive a county vehicle
- Squat, crawl, climb ladders, kneel
- Reach above shoulder level
- Handle object (Manual Dexterity)
- Do pushing/pulling
- Use fine finger movement:
- Sit/stand/walk for long durations
- Be able to lift 50lbs
