Job Description: Real Estate Accountant
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Real Estate Accountant to oversee a portfolio of nursing homes. This role requires a strong accounting background, focusing on maintaining and enhancing relationships with banks, operators, and other stakeholders to ensure the financial health of the nursing home assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management: Oversee the performance of nursing homes, ensuring they meet financial objectives.
- Accounting Oversight: Manage accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger activities. Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct regular financial performance analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, variance reporting, and identifying trends to inform decision-making.
- Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with banks, operators, and stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
- Asset Optimization: Identify opportunities for operational efficiency, revenue enhancement, and cost reduction within the portfolio.
- Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, highlighting portfolio performance, key metrics, and strategic recommendations.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate financial and operational risks associated with the portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to long-term strategies for portfolio growth and sustainability, including acquisition and divestiture opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or relevant certifications (CPA, CFA) preferred.
- Proven experience in asset management, real estate, or finance, preferably within the healthcare or senior living sectors, with a strong accounting background.
- Knowledge of the nursing home industry is preferred, including regulatory requirements and operational best practices.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and portfolio analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with real estate management systems is a plus.
