About UMOM New Day Centers: Founded in 1964, UMOM is Arizona's largest provider of services for families experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, rebuild lives, and end homelessness. With an annual operating budget of $22 million dollars, UMOM provides shelter, supportive services, and housing programs to families and single women experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County. UMOM serves over 15,000 unique individuals across all our services annually, including families receiving support at the Family Housing Hub.
Position Description: The Receiving Steward is responsible for supporting UMOM's food-service operations including receiving, handling, vendor engagement, and general customer service. The Receiving Steward is a mid-level position that reports to the Residential Dining Manager and will receive operational guidance from the Social Enterprise Director. The Receiving Steward is a key role in a high-functioning kitchen. This role will provide support to both of UMOM's Emergency Shelter facilities (New Day Center & Halle Women's Center).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Ability to interpret an invoice completely to validate any food, donations, chemicals or equipment delivered.
· Ability to multitask and switch between tasks as dictated by the hierarchy of food safety, receiving, and handling.
· Ability to process detailed information quickly and efficiently to make decisions effectively.
· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and complete tasks independently with minimal direction or supervision.
· Maintain accurate records of daily/weekly deliveries and provide the signed/validated documents to the supervisor.
· Manage deliveries in a timely and efficient manner and communicate with supervisors and vendors to resolve any issues with product deliveries.
· Ability to follow pars and place orders in accordance with the food and supply needs of the kitchen.
· Ability to uphold UMOM's standards for proper food handling and sanitation practices in accordance with the Health Department, OSHA, and MSDS guidelines.
Qualification and Competency Requirements:
Experience and Education
· High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
· Six months of receiving or working in a professional kitchen preferred
Computer Skills
· Familiarity with, or ability to learn, basic applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook email for proper communication and documentation responsibilities.
Compliance
· Current Arizona Food Handlers Certification Card or the ability to obtain one
· Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one
· Ability to clear the Central Registry Screening from the Department of Child Safety.

· This position is very active and requires standing, moving, bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching all day. The duties of this job require regular exposure to kitchen conditions including heat, cold, humid, wet, smoke, and loud noises.

Work Schedule: This position must have flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This full-time position typically works 5 days each week (40 hours) with 2 consecutive days off. Shifts typically fall between the hours of 5am and 7pm.
