About the Job
East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is hiring for a full-time Eligibility Technician/Receptionist for our LIHEAP/Safety Net department in our Riverside, RI location. This position will assist potential LIHEAP clients through assessment, intake, data entry, and providing basic information and referral. Provide shared coverage of the Family Center Reception Area. Participate in coverage rotation for EBCAP Family Centers and food pantries.
Responsibilities:
- Assist potential LIHEAP clients through assessment, intake, data entry, and providing basic information and referral.
- Research and secure EBCAP, state, and community services/resources and assist clients to enroll based on individual needs assessment.
- Communicate and coordinate with other EBCAP programs, to promote and accept referrals for EBCAP consumers who have need of additional services.
- Participate in coverage rotation for EBCAP Family Centers and food pantries. This may include direct service requirements such as ordering food, stocking food pantry shelves, reporting requirements and interacting with food pantry clients.
- Submit reports per organizational and funding requirements.
- Compose routine correspondence, process/route incoming mail, and prepare outgoing mail.
- File approval/denial letters, labels, vendor receipts, checks, applications, and other records as necessary.
- Assist with opening mail, review LIHEAP applications, answer telephones, and perform other general office tasks in a timely manner.
- Schedule client appointments.
- Assess the needs of walk-in clients and direct them to the appropriate staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Work independently and as a team player.
- Handle confidential information in a professional manner
- Must have basic computer and customer service skills
- Comfortable serving families of diverse social and economic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of resources within catchment area
