Job Summary: The Recovery Account Manager is primarily responsible for the assignment and follow-up of charge-off accounts to the outside attorney network or third-party agencies. Prepare documents to assist the third-party agencies or attorneys in the legal process of collecting or obtaining judgment followed by garnishment. Perform skip-tracing as needed to assure proper service and employment and document accounts accordingly. Prepare notifications to secure payment, explain penalties, interest, deadlines, and consequences for failure to comply. Obtain and evaluate financial information for the purpose of negotiating payment of balance in full, settlement, and/or payment plan. The Recovery Account Manager should do this while representing C&F Finance Company in a professional and positive manner and ensuring that all applicable laws and regulations are complied with in this process.
Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assign qualified charged-off accounts to the appropriate attorney or 3rd party agency for action.
- Send attorney packets with all relative information needed to file suit.
- Follow up with all attorneys and third-party agencies for updates and status reports to determine the next course of action.
- Build rapport and act as a liaison between out of state attorneys, third-party agencies, and C&F.
- Perform skip-tracing to locate assets for garnishment procedures.
- Locate unrecovered vehicles by utilizing optimum skip tracing technique.
- Make recommendations to litigate as needed.
- Arrange for a witness as needed.
- Call customers on delinquent accounts and negotiate/secure “Promise to Pay” or payment on the account to keep the account current.
- Meet or exceed monthly individual goals as set by the Department Manager.
- Follow daily work structure.
- Properly document all conversations with the customers in the Omega system.
- Stay logged into the dialer/phone system and handle all incoming calls as required by department.
- Maintain and update account information: changes to name, address, phone number, etc.
- Contact customers by phone, e-mail, text, chat, and letter regarding payment on accounts.
- Demonstrate knowledge of FDCPA, TCPA, CFPB and related laws in all states that C&F does business in and be able to apply it successfully
- Understand and effectively apply C&F Finance Company’s collection philosophy as reflected in the Collections Manual.
- Demonstrate complete knowledge and successfully passing the annual testing of Collections Manual policies and procedures.
- Understanding of all audits and reviews to correct deficiencies or to apply changes or recommendations.
- Knowledge, understanding and compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations that regulate the collection and finance industry.
- Knowledge, understanding and compliance with C&F policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include rotating weeknights, weekends, and holidays as business dictates.
- Must be able to follow the attendance requirements for the position.
Qualifications:
Knowledge: Three to five years of previous collections experience in banking, auto collections and special finance required. Experience and a level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) required. Proficient computer skills and typing skills.
Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and PC skills are required. Strong intuitive, analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills are essential. Must possess a strong attention to detail. Highly motivated. Excellent phone skills. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Individual must be a team player who works cooperatively with peers, employees, managers, and other departments, along with external customers such as third-party agencies, customers, employers, customer’s family members, court representatives and attorneys. Proficient in the navigation through Megasys.
Abilities: Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels. Must be an excellent active listener. Able to work independently or with a team. Able to understand the auto loan industry processes and regulations. Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and performance standards. Able to present accurate mathematical calculations. Thorough understanding of cure process and laws in various states. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Ability to master navigating through companies’ computer operating applications.
Education: High School Diploma required. College level courses in business preferred. AIB courses in banking and credit, as well as collection law are preferred. Without a degree equivalent relevant work experience will be considered.
Success Metrics
The individual’s success will be measured based on their ability to successfully complete the essential duties and responsibilities enumerated above. Other measures of success include teamwork (ability and willingness to work with other team members for the success of the department and the growth of the individual Senior Account Manager) and the ability to meet or exceed established goals for the team, department, and company. Management will provide goals each month.

Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods: view computer monitor, keyboarding, talking on the phone, sitting, hands and wrists fine motion, lifting boxes no heavier than 10 pounds and standing/walking.
