At Independence Hall we provide client-centered care and recovery-oriented treatment within a therapeutic environment for both veterans and non-veterans 18 years and older. The Residential Rehabilitation Services (RRS) Recovery Specialist Supervisor is responsible for the day to day oversight and supervision of the Recovery Specialists, and provides supervision and capacity building and ensures supervision during the times that the Clinical Manager is not on-site.The qualified candidate must have strong leadership and team building skills, management experience, substantial clinical experience in the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders, a dependable work ethic, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize.Â
This individual would be based out of the 59 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545 location. This is a full-time position with full benefits (health, dental, vision, 403B, paid time off, short/long term disability and life insurance, etc.)Â Â
Must be able to pass a CORI and background investigation. Must be able to start within two weeks of receiving a verbal offer.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Â
- Provides constructive feedback and training to staff regarding psychoeducational and mental health and substance abuse educational group presentations.
- Responsible for coordinating with management and Human Resources regarding disciplinary measures, employee relations and employee training and development.
- Responsible for assisting management with maintaining minimum staffing 24/7 in order to assure client safety and adherence to state licensing requirements, including all critical staff on all shifts. Also, maintains a strict policy and practice of non-abandonment of client care, and acts as the final line of coverage in the event of unavailability of replacement staff.
- Assist with identifying mental health and substance use assessment tools and how they should be administered.
- Assist with performing intakes, evaluation, orientation, admissions, treatment planning, documentation, discharge planning and referral of mental health and addiction clients.
- Maintains and monitors audit ready client files and documentation as required.Â
- Develops and documents individualized treatment plans that address the needs of mentally ill and substance abuse client population.
- Assist with leading a multidisciplinary team to provide clients with necessary program information, conduct screenings and assessments, and assist with developing their treatment plans and goals
- Works in Collaboration with Human Resources to coordinate training for staff as needed to support program needs, and assists Clinical Manager with providing education regarding psychotherapeutic techniques and evidence based treatment practices.
- Assists with maintaining a patient engagement initiative, including outreach to de-stigmatize the utilization of counseling services, and works to enhance the "Culture of Care" and understands how to treat clients with dignity and respect, and de-escalate upset clients.
- Identifies and develops the curriculum and process for psychosocial drug and alcohol support groups focusing on coping mechanisms and understanding the nature of addiction.
- Increases education, screening, care coordination, risk reduction interventions, and counseling for clients with or at risk of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and other diseases associated with opioid use disorders.
- Provides required documentation and timely reports (including narratives and data reports) as needed.
- Attends and participates in meetings as required. Leads meetings when necessary.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

- Ability to understand, communicate and follow Veterans Inc. policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of military culture and experience in working with veteran population and an understanding of veterans-related needs and issues.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to people with low socioeconomic status and minority cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to manage and lead a team to build a strong, cohesive team by creative problem solving, conflict negotiation and resolution and collaborative decision making.

- Position requires tact and diplomacy to successfully motivate and educate others.
- Ability to read and interpret general business correspondence, policies and procedures, referral information, financial documentation and applicable government regulations.
- Ability to write business letters, reports, instructions and procedures.
 Minimum Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory/management experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working with adult mentally ill and substance abuse disorder population.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and writing skills.
- Documented experience working with clients with trauma histories.
- Documented experience working within an inpatient treatment center or human service setting.
- Must be able to pass a CORI background records check.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Experience using electronic medical records desirable.
