Serving under the direction of the Community Center Coordinator, assist with the program services of the East Cleveland Corps Community Center. The Recreation Assistant will support and maintain the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the East Cleveland Corps, in accordance with all applicable internal & external policies and procedures. Rate of pay is $14/hour
Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As directed by the Community Center Coordinator:
- Assist with day-to-day planning, organizing and developing programming for Community Center (Youth Drop-In, Open Gym, etc.)
- Assist with enforcement of rules, program evaluation, fitness area & spray park area supervision
- Be heavily engaged in recreational programming for youth, teens, adults & seniors as directed
- Organize and supervise Tournaments (Ping Pong, Chess, Karate, Basketball, Volleyball, etc.)
- Assist with program administration including record keeping, statistical tracking, supplies inventory and equipment inventory
- Assist with setup and breakdown of all activities, including special events
- Attend and/or conduct trainings and seminars
- Attend all required staff meetings
- Assist with program and/or event promotion and marketing
OCCASIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As directed by the Community Center Coordinator:
- Involvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including food service, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, classroom coverage, etc.
- Promote observance of the moral and ethical code affecting program participants and staff
- Provide Front Desk coverage including answering phones, greeting guests and recording income
- Assist with seasonal programs including Thanksgiving Luncheon, Christmas Distribution, Christmas Kettles, Back to School Bash, etc.

Qualifications:- Must be a senior in High School or have a High School Diploma/GED
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must conduct oneself in a manner which reflects credit on The Salvation Army, its leadership, and on the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing work environment with the ability to multi-task.
- Must possess organization skills
- Must possess a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving.
- Must be able to relate well to all people and be a team player.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must possess computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other programs as used by The Salvation Army.
