This full-time Recreation Therapy Assistant position primarily works Monday-Friday 8a-4:30p, with adjusted hours (as part of a departmental rotation) to assist our persons served with evening, weekend, and holiday recreation opportunities. The role will involve assistance with programming in several OWL settings (inpatient, New Horizons, Long-Term, etc.) per the needs of our persons served and families.
We do annual raises based on budget capacity, and you also have the opportunity for a discretionary bonus at your anniversary.

What do Recreation Therapy Assistants do?
In partnership with other members of the transdisciplinary rehabilitation team, the Recreation Therapy Assistants provides advanced professional services for persons with brain injury or other neurological conditions, including:
• Assists in developing, planning, and carrying out recreation therapy and similar therapeutic activities
• Provides second-person assistance with aquatic therapy sessions
• Provides individual, co-treatment, and group recreation opportunities
• Assists with community outings, including operating OWL vehicles to transport persons served
• Assists with department organization and cleaning
• Provides documentation to support services provided per OWL guidelines

Qualified applicants must have:
- Ability to maintain CPR certification (if you do not have this already, we will pay for it)
- Ability to operate a vehicle on behalf of On With Life, including a Chauffeur's license (if you do not have this already, we will pay for it)
We prefer to hire a candidate with an Iowa Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist license (CTRS) and recreation therapy experience.
