Requirements:
- Active Recreational Therapist license issued by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification (CBRPC).
- At least 12 consecutive months of performing similar services within the last 3 years.
- BLS certification is issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (with AED).
- Must be proficient in the English Language (Speaking/Writing).
Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of the Institution's/Facility's CEO/CMH/CMO or their designated representative, the Recreation Therapist's responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the following: Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services for Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth. These therapeutic interventions aim to foster social interaction, encourage beneficial and appropriate use of leisure time, and prepare Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth for reentry into the general population or other levels of treatment.
- Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and collaborate with primary clinicians, correctional counselors, and other custody personnel to coordinate services.
- Assess recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth, with a focus on activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
