Position Overview:
The Food Safety and Quality SR Manager will collaborate closely with the Director of Quality and Food Safety to provide corporate leadership in implementing and maintaining robust Quality and Food Safety programs. The role ensures the safe warehousing, distribution, and production of products that comply with company, client, and FDA standards. The Quality Manager will lead initiatives to enhance processes in areas such as food safety, quality systems, pest control, sanitation, and product quality. This position also requires adherence to corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), with responsibility for reporting and addressing non-compliance issues. Additionally, the Quality Manager will uphold company safety regulations and contribute to their enforcement when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as a corporate quality representative and subject matter expert for supporting all regional sites within the Midwest and West Coast assigned region including participation in project teams, interviewing quality associates for new sites, coordinating breakout sessions for quality process development, and obtaining initial food licenses. Provide training during start-up and ongoing quality support post-launch.
* Oversee and manage license and registration renewals for overseeing multiple sites, including FDA Food Facility Registration, local food registrations (e.g., Department of Agriculture), and drug registrations.
* Conduct corporate quality audits at ID Logistics sites, supporting sites in the development and execution of corrective actions resulting from these audits.
* Manage 3rd-party audits as assigned, including scheduling, audit preparation, attending audits, and assisting with corrective actions.
* Participate in CAPA investigations for site corrective actions and oversee CAPA execution at assigned locations.
* Contribute to the Change Management Team for site-related projects.
* Provide direct support in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality and food safety programs, with potential on-site support as needed.
* Support sites in establishing and managing quality objectives.
* Present corporate quality and food safety training to ID Logistics sites, including delivering a wide range of corporate training topics.
* Assist in managing the corporate Document Management System, including writing, revising, and approving corporate procedures and forms. Ensure the effective roll-out of new or updated processes across all sites.
* Adhere to corporate and site-specific GMPs, reporting noncompliance where applicable.
* Comply with company safety standards and assist in their enforcement as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
* 10 years of hands-on experience as a Quality Manager in food manufacturing, with a proven record of developing and managing quality and food safety systems.
* Bachelor’s degree in science, quality or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Certifications: FSMA - PCQI, HACCP/HARPC, Certified Food Defense Coordinator
* Experience with GFSI (FSSC22000/SQF/BRC), and cGMPs related to human and pet foods
* Proficient in managing 3rd-party audits and regulatory inspections
* Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams
* Highly organized, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Extensive experience with Quality problem-solving methodologies such as CAPA, root cause analysis, and risk assessments
* Ability to travel domestically up to 60%
Preferred Qualifications:
* Pest Control or ASQ certification is a plus
* Experience with accountability for overseeing food safety and quality across multiple sites
