The Regional Operations Manager role, reporting to the Director of Regional Operations, engages stakeholders throughout the organization, manages operations projects and partners on the execution of KIPP SoCal's operations vision. The Regional Operations Manager will have a critical role in generally supporting the ongoing operations and growth of KIPP SoCal Public Schools. Additionally, this role has a specific focus on leading the creation and implementation of policies and procedures in the areas of Emergency Preparedness and Response, Student Safety, and Procurement.

Emergency Preparedness and Response, Student Safety, and Procurement (60%)
- Lead the development of standardized emergency procedures and training tools to ensure the day-to-day safety of all students, team-members and visitors.
- Coordinate and facilitate annual Incident Command System training, lockdown training, and the Great Shake drill across all schools and regional teams.
- Respond to and support school/regional teams in real-time as emergencies arise on school campuses.
- Evaluate the scalability of existing safety systems and find ways to address areas of inefficiency or ineffectiveness.
- Provide oversight and accountability to ensure compliance with all local, district, state and federal laws and regulations governing emergency preparedness, student safety, and procurement.
- Set strategic goals and vision for the procurement function; oversee key operational vendor relationships (e.g., furniture, office supplies, uniforms, curriculum); streamline procurement activities and billing processes; assist school teams with purchasing as needed; develop effective quality control processes to ensure vendors are providing quality and continued service to all schools.
- Create and manage users on all procurement systems (Amazon Business, Staples, Square, Lakeshore, etc.) and provide support to School Business Operations Managers with troubleshooting and navigating procurement softwares/systems.
- Act as the liaison between school teams and the regional Finance Team to proactively and reactively address questions and challenges as they arise.
- Act as the liaison with the Expanded Learning Team to ensure all aspects of emergency preparedness, student safety, and procurement are implemented during after-school/intersession program as well.
- Coordinate with regional and school-based team members to drive organizational compliance to KIPP SoCal's fiscal policies and procedures and federal/state regulations.
- Identify, codify and share best practices in school operations, including documenting standard operating procedures for schools.
Project Management, Knowledge Management & Reporting (40%)
- Design and facilitate training sessions for School Business Operations Managers, Expanded Learning Managers, and other school-based team members.
- Maintain and optimize KIPP SoCal's operations website to facilitate access to resources and best practice sharing for school-based operations teams.
- Oversee the project management of school moves (new facilities, additional classrooms, etc.)
- Develop and implement a project management plan to track action items due in the months and weeks leading up to a school move from regional teams and the school team
- Facilitate office hours between regional teams and school team to discuss progress and challenges leading up to the school move
- Provide resources to the school team to support various aspects of school moves (including contacts to moving companies, support with purchasing new furniture, etc.)
- Lead the strategic planning for KIPP SoCal's annual Prop 39 application, support applying schools with the collection of intent to enroll forms, and submit application(s) to the applicable local school district(s).
- Support with managing the weekly operations bulletin, KIPP SoCal operations' team drive, operations website, and other forms of resources/communication
- Perform monthly data updates on regional compliance dashboards to support progress monitoring across the region
- Perform data analysis and create reports to help KIPP SoCal make sound operational decisions to improve quality control and/or reduce costs
- Identify key areas or opportunities for centralization and/or standardization
- Plan and manage the logistics of meetings/events for the regional operations team, including but not limited to BOM PDs, annual BOM retreat, offsite meetings, and region-wide staff appreciation activities
- Provide on-the-ground operations support for schools as needed
- Support special projects and other tasks as instructed by the Director of Regional and School Operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or comparable required
- 4+ years of work experience in a fast-paced, high-capacity work environment (preferably within a school setting) with a strong background in project management or charter operations role
- Experience developing and implementing safety and emergency preparedness plans and protocols for a school and/or multiple school sites, including but not limited to successfully executing the comprehensive school safety plan, monthly emergency drills, emergency preparedness training for staff, and the implementation of protocols in emergency situations on campus.
- Ability to quickly respond and provide remote support in emergency situations at school campuses (sometimes before/after regular school day hours)
- Demonstrated ability in leading and setting direction for cross-functional teams, including coordinating work and driving change at all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
- Effective teamwork orientation with the ability to communicate and build relationships with multiple constituencies, including KIPP SoCal team members at all levels of the organization and third party vendors
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills; Systems thinker with an aptitude for proactively building systems
- Comfort with ambiguity and working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Motivated and self-directed; demonstrated initiative, leadership, and tenacity
- Intermediate experience using Excel and/or Google Sheets
- A demonstrated passion for improving K-12 public education
- Possesses a deep commitment to both racial and educational equity; supports the building of an organization that reflects the community KIPP serves; holds self and others on team accountable for centering equity
- The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Must be able to travel to regional office and school sites (Los Angeles + San Diego) - valid driver's license and dependable transportation needed

- KIPP SoCal Public Schools offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is $72,760 to $109,140. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint of $90,950 depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budget allocated for this role.
