POSITION SUMMARY:
The Regional Transportation Assistant is responsible for supporting transportation needs within the assigned region to ensure safe and quality service delivery of transportation. This position will work collaboratively with the Regional Transportation Supervisor to coordinate all bus routes, route departure and arrival times, and designate hub stops for community-based programs. In addition, the Regional Transportation Assistant will assist with onboarding of bus drivers within their assigned region. This position will also work in support of the Regional Transportation Supervisor to communicate needs associated with vehicle issues and repairs, and preventative maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with branch leadership staff within assigned region.
- Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Maintains Class B Commercial Driver's License with "P" and air brake endorsements and all additional DOT requirements in order to drive a YMCA bus.
- Responsible for compliance with YMCA standard operating procedures and safety guidelines related to all drivers and vehicle use in within their region.
- In coordination with regional drivers, ensures compliance with general cleaning, fueling, and vehicle readiness program for assigned vehicle fleet.
- Assists the Regional Transportation Supervisor with recruiting and onboarding of a diverse staff team across multiple dimensions of diversity.
- Works collaboratively with Regional Transportation Supervisor to develop, coordinate, and regularly review bus routes, and general branch transportation needs within assigned region.
- In coordination with Regional Transportation Supervisor supports regular preventative maintenance, reporting of repair needs/vehicle concerns, and coordination of vehicle repairs to minimize out of service time for assigned vehicle fleet.
- Promote and support successful implementation and engagement of fleet management software within assigned region.
- Serves in any and all capacities needed to ensure successful service delivery to branches, including but not limited to, filling in driver shifts for morning, afternoon, and weekend programming, fueling and/or other unplanned transportation needs.
- In coordination with Regional Transportation Supervisor, participates, leads, and supports the Y's transportation in-service training to ensure successful implementation and engagement.
- Maintains healthy collaborative working relationships with all transportation and program staff.
- Supports transportation needs for the North & Central Regions
- Central Region: Alexander, East Triangle, Poole, Southeast Raleigh
- North Region: A.E. Finley, Kerr, Knightdale
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Class B Commercial Driver's License with both Passenger and Air Brakes endorsements.
- Minimum of two-years experience driving a bus.
- Must successfully meet YMCA of the Triangle Criminal Background Check, Motor Vehicle Record, and driver screening requirements.
- Safety certifications required: Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen. *Must be met within first 30 days of hire.
- Desire and ability to work with children.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse group of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.

- Ability to safely drive a bus for long periods of time.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, climb ladders, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, talk, hear and have visual acuity.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards
related to the activity.
