JOB SUMMARY:
Oversee the operations and profitability for the 24-hour operations of the assigned Retirement and/or Assisted Living Communities. Collaborate with the VPs and Regional Directors of all departments on a regular basis. Maintain positive working relationships with each community’s management team, the Residents and their families and staff, along with the home office team and ownership.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- When in each assigned community, conduct a walk through to inspect both inside and outside looking for safety, regulatory, cleanliness and neatness violations as well as inappropriate placement of furniture and decorations and provide feedback and guidance to the Executive Director.
- Provide guidance to the Executive Director with the preparation of the operating and capital budgets.
- Ensure that the Executive Director is maintaining timely financial/marketing reporting to the Corporate Office with regard to various statistical reports including but not limited to census and turnover.
- Oversee the ED’s management of the entire facility’s operations, including physical space, staff, resident relations, community relations, marketing, food service, housekeeping, activities and wellness.
- Oversee the ED’s management of all buildings and grounds in a manner consistent with management policies, safety considerations and regulatory requirements through oversight and follow up of the preventative maintenance systems and programs and frequent inspections.
- Provide guidance to EDs on governmental statutes and regulations affecting operations of the facility in order to meet continued licensure, registration, and certification of the facility.
- Participate in interviewing of assigned community’s management team and ensure that ED oversees the onboarding and training.
- Provide guidance and support to EDs with performance evaluation, disciplinary action and terminations.
- Ensure that EDs are overseeing the interview, hiring, orientation, training/education, evaluation, promotion and termination of staff members.
- Ensure that ED is overseeing the determination of quality and maintenance of staffing levels, employee files, and adherence to Federal, State, and local labor regulations.
- Ensure that staff morale and loyalty are maintained at a high level in each assigned community.
- Ensure that there is an open-door policy for staff and that ED makes the time to be available for meetings, conferences and concerns.
- Ensure that the community’s management team maintains an environment for staff personnel to grow professionally.
- Ensure that EDs are controlling expenses in accordance with established budget continuously ensuring maximum profitability.
- Ensure that ED is maintaining an active relationship with the Residents through individual and group interaction and that they meet regularly with the Residents at monthly Resident Council meetings and respond appropriately and timely to the issues and concerns that are raised. Attend these meetings when necessary.
- Ensure that an atmosphere of caring, stability, and peace is maintained, where the personal dignity of Residents is supported and the Residents are encouraged to live as closely as possible/practical to how they had been accustomed.
- Ensure that the ED has the proper emergency and evacuation procedures and responses to Residents, their families and employees in place, ensuring community readiness for all cases of emergency.
- Oversee marketing and ensure solutions are sustaining maximum occupancy levels.
- Represent the Company in a positive manner maintaining an image of social propriety and professional excellence.
- Review the covenants of all management agreements, leases and contracts that have been signed by the Executive Board, as necessary.
- Act as interim Executive Director when necessary
- All other duties as assigned by the VP of Operations or the COO.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess emotional stability and be able to function smoothly, effectively and concentrate with many distractions.
- Thorough understanding of the Department of Health regulations regarding Assisted Living in the state in which you are seeking employment.
- Possess understanding, patience and tact in dealing with all staff, Residents and their families.
- Between 5-10 years of experience in health care or retirement living setting. At least two (5) years of related work experience must be of supervisory capacity.
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree with emphasis on long-term care or Health Administration, geriatrics, management or business.
- New Jersey Executive Directors must hold a current NJ license as a nursing home administrator or hold a current New Jersey certification as an assisted living administrator and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
