Job Summary/Objective:
- The Registered Behavior Technician provides support and works with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental illness served by Summit Pointe Behavior Treatment Committee (BTC). They focus on skill acquisition, implement ABA intervention programs, and manage data. They use behavioral skills training techniques, provide support for ongoing monitoring, and conduct ABA Community Living Supports sessions. They maintain record compliance, participate in competency improvement activities, and demonstrate good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Essential Duties and Functions:
- Acts as a liaison within the community to ensure continuum of care and support for customers.
- May act as a clinical resource for agency teams and conducts educational presentations as needed.
- Provides therapeutic support as outlined in the customers plan of service based on person-centered planning and utilization of evidence-based practices.
- Conducts preference assessments and assists with additional data collection needs during functional assessments with customers.
- Teaches caregivers and staff to implement strategies outlined in behavior treatment plans and implements skill acquisition programs directly with customers.
Qualifications:
Educational
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician through the Behavior Analysis Certification Board OR eligible for RBT exam (if hired as eligible, must obtain RBT credential within 6 months of hire).
Basic Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or serious mental illness.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and verbal communication skills.
- Uses time in a proficient manner; able to prioritize; sets specific tasks and plans.
- One year of computer experience preferred – Word, Excel, and electronic medical record software preferred.
- Experience with severe and dangerous behaviors is preferred.
- Experience with development and implementation of formal skills programming using ABA principles preferred.
- Familiarity with consultative models of behavioral service delivery preferred.
Trauma Informed System of Care:
A trauma-informed approach to service delivery emphasizes physical and emotional safety, choice, empowerment, and trustworthiness for customers. The impact of trauma is broad and touches many life domains. Participation is mandatory for activities required for Summit Pointe to become a “Trauma Informed System of Care.”
Physical Requirements:
- Professional office environment that generates noise from computer equipment/peripherals.
- Possible exposure to health risks (violence and infectious diseases).
- Sometimes lifts, carries, or moves objects up to 25 lbs.
- May be required to work variable hours/shifts.
