Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Registered Dietitian III, Registry in the Clinical Nutrition Department.
As a Registered Dietitian III, you will assess nutrition status, establish nutrition diagnosis(es), develop intervention strategies and monitor/evaluate nutrition care plans in the adult inpatient setting. This specific registry position will also require coverage of an upcoming maternity leave in the Bariatric Clinic this coming late summer/early fall.
Essential Job Functions:
- Under general direction, has the duties of instructing, assisting in the training, and checking the work of less experienced staff.
- Establishes individual plans of care for nutrition therapy based on results of the comprehensive nutritional assessment, including immediate, intermediate, and long term goals of therapy.
- Educates patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members about the effectiveness of therapeutic diets and nutrition. support regiments to improve/maintain nutritional status and establish optimal outcomes.
- Tailors feeding formulations for disease-specific constraints and clinical status changes that may affect tolerance and nutrient utilization.
- Authorizes (with approval of a physician) changes to formulas based on clinical assessment of the patient.
- Instructs patients and families; when indicated, on modified diets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Dietitian (RD) with successful completion of coordinated program, dietetic internship, or other experience approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetic Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Maintenance of RD through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) by accrual of 75 units of approved Continuing Professional Education every 5 years.
- 6(+) years total clinical experience AND MS degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or other relevant major OR 9(+) years total clinical experience AND BS degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or other relevant major, to qualify as an RDIII. Less years of experience can also be considered for employment.
- Additional specialty certification related to area of clinical practice (e.g. Certified Specialist in Pediatrics, Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, Certified Specialist in Pediatric Critical Care, etc) and relevant to position
