REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Duties: Registered Nurse works under the direct supervision of the Administrator and is responsible for ensuring that the utmost competent care and safety is consistently delivered to all clients.

Required Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of Georgia
- First Aid/CPRNCIC/DBHDD clearance
- 2+ years of nursing experience
- At least 6 months experience working in a skilled nursing or assisted living facility working with those individuals living with dementia, and or geriatric or disoriented individuals
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance.
- Maintains current driver’s license if doing transportation
- Must have a positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the LPN, CNA, and Direct Care Staff
- Supports individuals in attaining personal goals and desires
- Ensures safety and security of individualsTurns and re-positions bedridden individuals, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores
- Completes all progress notes and documentation before change of shift
- Assist individuals with ADLs (supervising, feeding, bathing, and dressing)
- Take vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration) as needed
- Prepare and administer injections/enemas
- Collect samples and monitor catheters/feeding tubes
- Provide wound care and Routine hygiene care throughout the day.
- Supervise in addressing their ISP/Plan of Care goals and document progress
- Support all opportunities for the growth, learning, and development of the individual
- Complete daily progress notes highlighting person center events
- Complete understanding of the agency’s policies and procedures
- Attend all staff meetings
- Maintain individuals’ records on site by policy and procedures.
- Attend mandated training as required
- Assumes full responsibility when at work for food preparation, community activities, and assisting individuals with other needs
- Supports individuals by planning nutritious meals, and supporting those with special diets
- Cooperates with family members regarding reasonable requests related to the needs of individuals
- Supervises the self – self-self-administration of prescribed medication and maintains a record of medication by documentation on Mars according to established policies
- Maintains medical chart for each individual, consistent with physician’s orders, and reports any medical emergencies according to the Medical Emergency Plan.
- Administer medications to those individuals unable to self-administer.
- Assumes responsibility for cash disbursements given by supervisor and keeps receipts showing the actual amount spent, if applicable
- Supports individuals with learning and maintaining personal and household skills
- Provides physical support to residents; including, but not limited to, lifting and moving adaptive equipment
- Receives visitors to the facility; maintains family family-oriented nature of the facility by being hospitable to family members and other natural supports by making arrangements as needed for family
- Supports and encourages individuals through the use of positive reinforcement and non-intrusive consequencesAbstains from mental, physical, or verbal abuse, humiliation, withholding personal funds, and the use of physical
- restraint or isolationReports and records significant behavior incidents to the Supervisor and Case Manager
- Observe confidentiality guidelines. Refrains from discussing individuals with any person other than those indicated in the residents’ files
- Acts as a role model supporting and counseling in routine and spontaneous activities
- Works at all times to enhance the lives of the residents by treating them with consideration and respect, and full recognition of dignity, individuality, and need for privacy
- Maintains a Positive Team Work Environment
- Accepts and gives constructive criticism, as appropriate
- Avoids gossiping and spreading rumors or unfound statements
- Assist others as appropriate

- Attends staff meetings and training sessions requested by the supervisor or management
- Completes any duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Assumes responsibility for the care of the home/facility, grounds, equipment and furnishings
- Report to the supervisor any maintenance problems when they occur
- Complies with policies of the Department of Behavior Health and Developmental Disabilities, Department of Community Health, and Advir Health Care Systems as they relate to oversight and management of the facilities and this position
- Complies with requirements to maintain accreditation
Other Requirements:
- Transportation (only if the standards required by DBHDD are met)

- Works overtime, as needed, according to personnel policies
- Maintains a helping relationship with other staff and the Board of Directors

- Possesses the mental and physical ability and stamina to perform the job well
- Follows all other requirements of current personnel policies
- Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned by the Administrator
Requirements:
- All Training required by DBHDD will be met by the standards.
- Competency
- Fluent in the written and spoken English languageBasic computer skills
- RN License in Georgia/Compact RN Lic
- High school diploma or Equivalent
- Training as required by DBHDD
- Ongoing training as directed by the Administrator
