POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Nursing ensures expert nursing care delivery by providing on-going staff education, consultation, evidence-based clinical practice, and leadership.
The Director of Nursing supervises staff in their daily activities to ensure the delivery of care according to established departmental policies and procedures. The Director of Nursing is responsible to ensure nursing and clinical staffing patterns are appropriate to ensure high quality care. On an annual basis, The Director of Nursing, reviews growth objectives and makes recommendations to ASC leadership in planning and budgeting for the nursing, clinical, and operational budget. This position is responsible to resolve staff, patient, visitor, and physician issues or concerns in a timely manner. The Director of Nursing will keep the Administrator informed of any unresolvable issues. The Director of Nursing completes all performance reviews for direct reports. The Director of Nursing is responsible to monitor budgetary practices, prepare staff schedules, develop and implement performance improvement activities, ongoing competency training, and orient new employees to the unit.
The Director of Nursing serves as a key communicator for organizational updates, policy changes and education needs. This position establishes and maintains communication with physicians and other professionals to promote high quality, safe, and efficient operations of the facility.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. The Director of Nursing is available in the facility during hours of operation and assigns a designee, as appropriate. The Director of Nursing is assigned as the Acting Administrator when the named administrator is not available
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. BSN Preferred. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. BLS required. ACLS required. National Certification in specialty preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Meets qualifications as outlined for specialty. 3 years clinical experience required within specialty. At least one year of supervisory experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as leadership skills required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the surgery center environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, blood-borne pathogens, and potential injury
Physical demands include but are not limited to considerable stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment, and excessive standing and walking. Lifting approximately 25-50 lbs. frequently; lifting 50-100 lbs. with assistance occasionally. Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to department leadership and supervises incumbents as assigned.
