Job Summary and Qualifications
The Employee Health nurse completes physicals according to the Employee Health Plan and written standards. The position evaluates each employee as designated by the Employee Health & Safety Program (EH & S) and written standards, on a consistent basis, (i.e., annual, bi-annual). Maintains a confidential file on each employee. Follows OSHA standards for Blood-borne Pathogens, FRC and implements immunizations and exposure follow-up as needed. Responsible for all aspects of the EH & S Program to include: reporting, processing claims, tracking and documentation.

- Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Human Resources Department.
- Consistently demonstrates the ability to adapt to changes in the environment.
- Maintains a confidential Health File on each employee.
- Completes Employee physicals according to Employee Health Plan.
- Evaluates each employee as designated by Employee Health Plan on a consistent basis.
- Responsible for educating the EH & S Program at Hospital General Orientation to include in-services as necessary.
- Responsible for aspects with the Ergonomics Program as mandated by OSHA as designated by Quality Manager .
- Provides support to the Infection Control Program.
- Follows OSHA standards for Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Maintains OSHA Log as per OSHA standards.
- Assists with Employee Health Policies and Procedures development, implementation and revisions
- Prepares monthly reports of employee incidents and attends EOC Committee Meetings..
- Demonstrates an ability to perform in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations when time is essential.
- Uses advanced and specialized knowledge and skills to collaborate with the Infection Control RN to implement, evaluate and document.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assist/provide services to patient in relation to growth and development over the life span, including the ability to assist in the identification of requirements relative to age specific and handicapped needs.
- Utilizes appropriate safety precautions and principles of good body mechanics.
- Performs all duties associated with Employee Health and Safety Program.
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, hospital personnel, and others to fulfill position responsibilities.
- Actively participates in hospital and departmental group meetings.
- Assures that information presented at missed meetings is obtained from Director and/or others who attended.
- Consistently responds to requests in a positive, professional, and timely manner.

- Is knowledgeable of standards established by Kingwood Medical Center, including but not limited to, Fire, Safety, Infection Control, Disaster, and Universal Precautions.
- Assists with the development of personnel on his/her shift, including orientation and continuing education
- Actively participates in both departmental and hospital-wide process improvement efforts.
- Plans and implements through multi-disciplinary means, strategies to reduce length of stay, and over/inappropriate consumption of resources.
- Recognizes unsafe acts or conditions as defined by Kingwood Medical Center policies and procedures, and takes immediate action to correct.
- Participates in Performance Improvement Activities to achieve improved patient outcomes.
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
- Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
- Attends inservice presentations, and completes mandatory education week, including, but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS, and OSHA standards (PPE, First Aide and Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communications, Emergency Procedures and Job Safety)
- Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Registered Nurse
Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
2 years recent experience as a licensed nurse.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Course Completion and Certification.
