- Work Location: Onsite; Palo Alto, CA
- Compensation: $80 to $85 per hour
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess patients' medical conditions and histories, conduct physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests to diagnose surgical conditions and determine the need for surgery.
- Perform surgical procedures, which can include but are not limited to appendectomies, hernia repairs, gallbladder removals, colon surgeries, and various other abdominal, breast, and soft tissue surgeries.
- Explain the surgical procedure, potential risks, and alternatives to patients, obtaining their informed consent before surgery.
- Prepare patients for surgery, which may involve prescribing preoperative medications, providing instructions for fasting, and ensuring patients are in optimal health for the procedure.
- Perform surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and following proper surgical techniques and protocols.
Monitor patients in the postoperative period, providing appropriate care, managing pain, and addressing any complications that may arise. - Collaborate with other medical specialists, including anesthesiologists, radiologists, and other surgeons, to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Conduct postoperative follow-up appointments to assess patients' recovery and address any issues or complications that may arise.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, including surgical notes, patient charts, and other documentation required for legal and medical purposes.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards in healthcare, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and other relevant regulations.
- Effectively communicate with patients and their families, explaining surgical procedures and treatment plans in a clear and empathetic manner.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited academic institution.
Licenses and Certifications
- CA RN - Registered Nurse
- BLS Basic Life Support
- Trauma ICU experience required
