Summary and Qualifications
This position is responsible for overseeing all resident care and administrative duties during his/her assigned shift.
Must be an RN licensed in Connecticut with at least one (1) year of additional education or experience in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing and one (1) year of nursing service administration.
- Able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be up to date with vaccines (1st, 2nd, & Boosted)
- Must work every other weekend/ on-call
Essential Functions
- Supervises and manages all staff on duty.
- Communicates, monitors and coaches nursing personnel regarding job expectations.
- Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing on assigned shift and night shift.
- Ensures notification of attending physicians as necessary.
- Fills in for shift vacancies as needed.
- Makes rounds throughout the assigned shift. Visits residents in unstable condition; ensures that staff complete their assignment.
- Thoroughly completes accident and incident reports, including notification section, in a timely manner, and fall assessment when needed.
- Assures resident rooms are in a neat, orderly fashion while maintaining the resident is right to privacy, i.e., neat closets, labeled personal items. Assures cleanliness of utility rooms, kitchens, staff rooms, shower rooms, linen rooms and other work areas.
- Effectively communicates resident status at shift report.
- Notifies nursing administrative staff, physician, and family of resident change in status; of potential safety issues and staffing concerns.
- Coordinates staff appropriate to ensure adequate staffing to meet resident needs.
- Provides input in to staff evaluations as requested.
- Respects and adheres to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
- Complete assignments in a timely, complete and accurate manner.
- Consistently supports the mission and values of the facility.
- Monitors the workplace for safety and fire hazards reports potential problems.
- Participates in fire and disaster drills.
- In the event of an emergency, carries out assigned duties to ensure resident safety.
- Completes assignments in a timely, complete and accurate manner.
- Understands and complies with responsibilities concerning resident rights, confidentially, infection control, safety, accident and fire protection.
- Demonstrates effective time management skills and work practices.
- Attends mandatory in-services.
- Adheres to dress code.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
- Complies with all facility policies and standards regarding ethical business practices
- Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Adheres to the facility’s Code of Conduct.
- Other tasks as assigned.
