About the Job
- Shift: 3x12-Hour (06:00 - 18:30)
- Work location: Onsite; Apple Valley, CA
- Compensation: $60 to $65 per hour
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive care to critically ill or premature newborns, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing nutritional support through feeding tubes or intravenous lines.
- Continuously monitor heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and other vital signs, making adjustments to care as needed based on the infant's condition.
- Accurately administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments prescribed by neonatologists, adhering to NICU protocols and guidelines.
- Aid physicians during complex medical procedures, such as intubation, central line placement, or surgical interventions in the NICU.
- Offer emotional support to families of critically ill infants, helping them understand the care being provided and guiding them through difficult situations.
- Teach parents how to care for their newborns, such as how to feed them, administer medications, or perform necessary home care after discharge.
- Create individualized care plans in collaboration with the medical team to meet the unique needs of each infant based on their medical condition.
- Work closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure cohesive and comprehensive care.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience
- 2 years related experience
- Familiarity with Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Program guidelines
- Vents, IV starts, PICC management
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS Certification
