Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide care of the patients in the Telemetry Department. The RN is responsible for demonstrating proficient nursing skill, exhibiting professionalism, and providing outstanding customer service to patients and their visitors at Conway Medical Center.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate degree (ASN) in Nursing required.
- Bachelor’s degree (BSN) or Master’s Degree (MSN) in Nursing preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years palliative and hospice care nursing experience required.
- Minimum of one (1) year hospital-based nursing experience required.
- Knowledge of nursing theory and practice required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Current South Carolina or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse (SCLLR) in good standing required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Current Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) certification preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
- Work with related team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate delivery of palliative care services to identified patient population.
- Maintain statistical tracking of program interventions and overall impact on level of services for all age groups receiving palliative care.
- Identify and establish ongoing education to nursing and other identified personnel regarding palliative care philosophy, theory and care.
- Participate and provide clinical leadership in the development and review of appropriate clinical protocols.
- Responsible for performing procedures such as but not limited; start or check IV’s, administer medications, monitor vital signs, suction patients, and help patients with their personal needs.
- Plan, provide, supervise, and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.
- Utilize professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care.
- Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers, assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care.
- Act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with co-workers, nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
- Effectively utilize strong organizational/time management skills.
- Consistently display effective verbal communication skills.
- Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
- Exercise independent judgement in emergency situations.
- Perform functions as noted above and generally with an assigned patient load, but the RN is ready and willing to assist co-workers with ANY nursing support function and across any case load, including other units that may not be the normal primary work assignment.
