About the Job
- Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
- Work location: Onsite; West Hollywood, CA
- Compensation: $56 to $73 per hour
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform frequent assessments of patients' conditions, including monitoring vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and oxygen levels).
- Utilize telemetry equipment to monitor patients with cardiac or respiratory issues. Ensure continuous monitoring for signs of deterioration.
- Recognize early signs of complications or changes in patient status, initiating appropriate interventions as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications, including oral, intravenous (IV), and subcutaneous medications. Follow protocols for high-risk medications, such as anticoagulants and cardiac drugs.
- Manage IV fluids, drips (e.g., heparin, insulin, or cardiac medications), and monitor their effects. Ensure that drips are adjusted according to physician orders and patient response.
- Perform wound care, change dressings, and provide post-operative care for patients recovering from surgeries or other procedures.
- Work with physicians, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust patient care plans.
- Document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, medication administration, patient responses, and any changes in condition in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience
- Experience in IV starts, tele
- Most PCU Float RN positions require 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a PCU, telemetry, critical care, or a similar intermediate care setting.
- Experience working as a float nurse or in multiple units can be an advantage, as it shows adaptability and the ability to manage varying patient populations and conditions.
