About the Job
The Registered Nurse-Post Op provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The Post-op Registered Nurse performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other professionals in the facility. Performs similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned. The Post-op Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, and the clinical manager. She/He is responsible for the assessment, care coordination, and implementation of the post-operative care plan of the patient according to prescribed procedures. The Post-op Registered Nurse must have high level critical thinking skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, & communicate effectively at all levels of communication. She/he utilizes post-surgical care knowledge to prepare the patient for the next level of care. The Post-op Registered Nurse is responsible for the education post operatively. Responsible for computer documentation during the postoperative phase of treatment.
The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications:- Associate of Nursing Degree or Nursing diploma
- Two (2) years clinical experience preferred.
- Current Licensure in the State of Florida.
- BLS through American Heart Association
- ACLS through American Heart Association is required within 90 days of employment/transfer
- NIH is required within 90 days of employment/transferDemonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills.
