• Performs detailed physical assessment, establishes a plan of care and performs advanced critical care stabilization for patients being transported following designated protocols and procedures as approved by the Program's Medical Control Physician and SC DHEC Division of EMS. - 25%
  • Exhibits appropriate communication skills in dealing with parents, family members, referring physicians and outlying hospital personnel as well as with EMS support personnel. -15%
    • Provides maintenance and follow-up for equipment/supply needs to insure system readiness. - 10%
      • Provides written transport follow-up to each referring physician/hospital; collects data to assist in regulatory compliance; quality improvement and patient satisfaction issues - 10%
        • Able to obtain blood gases from all sites. - Analyzes and reports results accurately. Performs blood gas analyzer quality control and maintenance as needed. Initiates umbilical venous catheter insertion. - 10%
          • Perform duties on helicopter or ambulance. - 10%
            • Effectively communicates well with all members of the health care team. - Provides a complete and accurate report to Medical Control. Makes recommendations to medical directors during transports as appropriate. - 10%
