Summary of the Registered Nurse:
Provide nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practice and regulations, and as directed by the Director of Nursing.
Qualifications:Job Requirements of Registered Nurse:
- Registered Nurse with current RI state license.
- Must have a current/active CPR certification.
- Excellent technical, assessment and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift fifty (50) or more pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
- Able to stand and/or walk for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Able to bend and/or stoop for more than one (1) hour at a time.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse:
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
- Prepare and administer (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
- Educate patients on surgical procedures.
- Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients and interpret and record electronic displays.
- Initiate corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology.
- Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.
- Change dressings, insert catheters, starts IVs.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms.
- Other special projects and duties, as assigned.
