Registered Nurse/South 1 Telemetry-Internal Contract - Cabell Huntington Hospital/St. Mary

Rivers Health is seeking a "Pay In Lieu Of Benefits" Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg Unit at Rivers Health. The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time. * Performs initial assessment of patient. * Formulates a plan of care and nursing diagnosis based on the assessment. Considers emotional and spiritual as well as physical health. * Assumes responsibility and accountability for overall quality of patient care. * Ensures patient care is given according to the proficiency level of personnel while retaining accountability for duties delegated. * Respects patient privacy rights and values of individual patients And provides care accordingly. * Provides guidance to all personnel in their respective duties. * Ensures cleaning, stocking, and quality control duties are accomplished. * Ensures equipment needed to provide quality care is available. Ensures any malfunctioning equipment is labeled appropriately and sent to Biomed. * Performs on-going nursing assessments. Utilizes assessment data to plan, revise, and update patient plan of care. * Participates in on-going evaluation of employees. * Keeps Unit Coordinator/Supervisor, Patient Care Supervisors and/or Risk Manager apprised of special concerns regarding quality, cost effective care, and risk management issues. * Completes all annual competencies. * Performs other duties that may be assigned. * Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook. * Performs nursing care in a safe and timely manner according to hospital policies, procedures, and philosophy. * Accurate documentation of care. * Provides patient education and discharge planning in collaboration with other disciplines. * Assists with orientation of new employees. * Assures emergency equipment and supplies are available. * Assumes responsibility for safe-guarding medications and narcotics. Safely administers medications with appropriate monitoring. * Must be able to cross-train to other units. * Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills. * Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration. Participates In unit meetings. * Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams. EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING: Graduate of a school of nursing with current WV license. BCLS required. WORK EXPERIENCE: One (1) year nursing experience preferred in area assigned.
