JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for managing Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) in assigned markets, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise in oncology nursing, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both clinical and operational leaders. This role blends administrative duties with direct patient care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
• Lead and manage a team of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), including performance evaluations, competency assessments, and training on new workflows to ensure consistent high-quality care in assigned markets/clinics.
• Provide direct care to patients, as needed, to ensure adequate staffing levels and patient access.
• Foster a positive work environment that promotes teammate engagement, health and wellbeing, professional growth and development, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Nursing leadership to interview, select, onboard, and mentor nursing teammates.
• Conduct regular meetings with nursing team, ensuring appropriate support levels and ongoing discussions related to education and training needs.
• Coordinate staff schedules and monitor timecards, in close partnership with market/pod leadership, to ensure adequate coverage, efficient operations, and seamless patient care.
• Serve as a resource for staff during busy periods, ensuring they have the support they need to provide exceptional care to patients.
• Ensure adherence to established clinical protocols, policies, and procedures related to nursing care.
• Monitor patient outcomes and intervene as necessary to address any issues or concerns.
• Collaborate with TOI physicians and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care delivery.
• Participate in budget planning and cost control measures to optimize department performance.
• Assists in the development, review, and revision of standard operating policies and procedures in collaboration with senior management to improve patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Address any deficiencies or areas for improvement in collaboration with nursing and clinic leadership.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Strong clinical knowledge in oncology nursing practices and procedures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in computer applications and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to make sound decisions.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices in oncology nursing.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS and Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy (ONS) certification.
• Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or related specialty highly desirable.
• Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience in oncology or a related field.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory or managerial role strongly preferred.
