Position Summary
Responsible to coordinate nursing care to the residents, and to oversee the day-to-day nursing activities on assigned shift performed by the nursing staff within established Carlyle Senior Care of Williston policies, procedures and applicable federal, state and local standards and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the knowledge and clinical expertise required to effectively supervise all nursing activities of the facility.
- Supervise all nursing procedures and systems relative to the facility.
- Review nursing assessments regarding the health status of the residents.
- Oversees the distribution of medications, reviews the care plan and physician's orders.
- Make rounds on a timely basis to ensure continuity of resident care.
- Reviews nurse’s notes to ensure that the care plan is being followed when administering care and treatment.
- Develop work assignments, and/or assist in completing and performing such assignments.
- Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your shift/unit.
- Train, assign, supervise and coordinate the efforts of direct caregivers.
- Monitor resident information sheet for correct care documentation with necessary equipment or interventions on the sheets for the staff.
- Review daily any new behaviors and follow up in the AM and PM wrap up meetings.
- Report changes in resident condition to the DON and/or the resident's physician and nurse practitioner.
- Educate resident and family members on health-related issues.
- Participate in various meetings, including daily and monthly meetings, PAR, QA, In-Service, etc.
- Inspect Crash Carts and MED Carts, ensure supplies are in order.
- Participate in facility surveys (inspections) conducted by government agencies and ensure required compliance.
- Maintain inventory of medicine and supplies, ensure supplies and equipment are on hand to meet the nursing needs of the resident. Inform DON to needed supplies.
- Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards of practice.
- Organize information/data to identify trends and problems within your department; review information to determine underlying issues. Generate measures to achieve business goals, review with Director of Nursing and/or Executive Director.
Position Requirement and Skills
- Must have working knowledge of appropriate Microsoft Office programs.

Education & Experience
- Currently licensed in the state as RN; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Two years’ experience as a RN, with one-year nursing supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility which include a medical and physical examination.
- Must be able to relate to and work with those who are ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile, within the facility.
- Physically demanding, high-stress environment
- Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and repetitive motions
- Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients. Requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
- Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.
- Must be able to move intermittently through the workday
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and support agencies.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that enable the senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
