About the Job
Purpose of Position:
- To obtain all necessary information from both inpatients and outpatients to initiate treatment and billing by completing data entry and clinical information into the registration system.
- The registration department is the front door to this hospital and the patient registrar must provide professional, efficient, quality customer service.
Job Description:
- Enter and/or verify all information into Medipac registration system
- Verify eligibility for all insurances utilizing electronic verification systems
- Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire for every Medicare patient
- Screen all Medicare outpatient lab patients for medical necessity
- Offer financial assistance and do quick financial screening application for all uninsured patients
- Enter admissions for any ED admission
- Update departed emergency patients
- Tear down and assemble ED record
- Contact AultWorks for any workman's compensation patient
- Memo all pertinent information regarding billing and insurance into Mpac system
- Assure that Medipac System and Cerner system are in sync at all times
- Comprehensive knowledge of the following systems: MPAC, Cerner (FirstNet and SugiNet), AultWorks, RevRunner, RQI, Bed Tracking, HealthWorks Compliance Checker
- Follow all hospital and department policies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, minimum
- Ability to type at least 35 wpm
- Familiarity with medical terminology, useful
- Ability to work calmly and accurately in stressful situations
- Excellent customer service skills
- Professional manner and appearance

- Constant walking utilizing Wireless on Wheels computer
- Continual involvement with patients and their families
- Ability to assist patients in wheelchairs and transport if necessary
