Rehab Director
The Facility Rehab Director supervises the Occupational, Speech, and Physical Therapy staff who, under physician prescription, evaluate and treat patients based upon medical necessity and clinical appropriateness. This includes supervision, coordination and administration of the department activities such as scheduling, staff accountability, collaboration with MDS and the clinical interdisciplinary team. The Facility Rehab Director is expected to follow facility core values in administering department services and helping to fulfill all therapy-related resident care needs.
Duties may include the following:
- Determine departmental staffing requirements necessary to meet the department’s needs, and schedule/assign a sufficient number of personnel.
- Monitor and maintain attendance records for Therapy department employees.
- Monitor and maintain disciplinary records for Therapy department employees.
- Serves as a liaison between Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Administration, Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, and the SNF residents representing the department head at professional meetings.
- Maintains a staff of sufficient number to effectively provide quality care for patients of all ages so that therapy can address all resident therapy needs in a timely manner.
- Assists in mentoring and training new personnel.
- Provides opportunity for development and professional growth of staff.
- Assists Human Resources in accountability of therapy team members.
- Evaluates outcomes and quality measures of therapy services supplied by the department.
- Coordinates Rehabilitation Services with interdisciplinary team to help ensure a safe discharge plan for all residents.
- Provides direct care to patients of all ages, as needed.
- Maintains applicable state licensure and/or discipline certification and is responsible for remaining current in Rehabilitation trends and new developments
- Promotes a safe and clean environment for staff and patients of all ages, through in-service education.
- Conducts regular staff meetings including weekly team meetings to discuss patient progress and discharge planning.
- Prepares QAPI Reports and reports findings to IDT Monthly.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:Must possess a degree in therapy from an accredited school; or
- Two (2) years of experience as a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Speech-Language Pathologist Therapist, or Rehab Tech
