Rehabilitation Therapy Aide
Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm
Starting at: $18/hour
based on years of experience

Responsibilities:
Under the direction of a therapist, assists patients in the rehabilitation process through provision of requested activities. Prepares and maintains equipment and physical plant for daily activities.
- Assist therapist with transferring patients to/from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs and other equipment appropriate to the facility/department.
- Transports patients to/from therapy as needed.
- Assists with patient related activities including equipment set-up and patient positioning in preparation for therapy session as outlined in the Physical Therapy Practice Act.
- Participates in therapeutic dysphagia and feeding program as requested and supervised by the therapists.
- Prepares and maintains the department and department equipment in a clean and orderly condition, including disinfecting all equipment and surfaces according to infection control policies and procedures.
- Ensures maintenance of cleaning logs and refrigerator temperature logs.
- Provides coverage for Wheelchair Technicians including:
- Assists with cleaning/disinfecting of wheelchairs and cushions after each patient use.
- Issues wheelchair to new admissions.
- Assists with preventative maintenance and repairs on wheelchair fleet to extend life of equipment and ensure patient safety.
- Distributes wheelchairs to new admissions, as requested by therapy department.
- Communicates with Clinical Manager and/or Director of Rehab on a timely basis regarding departmental needs, informs department manager of needed supplies, and assists with inventory control and ordering.
- Establishes and maintains current knowledge of all performance improvement and patient care improvement issues and maintains an active role in monitoring these issues.
- Participates in departmental meetings and demonstrates understanding of patient satisfaction and safety outcome data.
- Arranges for responsibilities to be covered in planned absences.
- Assists the DOR with identification of support staff needs for patient care in the rehab treatment areas and coordination of such between rehab and nursing floors.
- Participates in therapeutic dysphagia and feeding program as requested and supervised by the therapists.
- Participates in facility specific Core Program meetings and demonstrates understanding of patient satisfaction outcome data.
- Assists with basic clerical duties as requested.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- One or more years of hospital experience as rehab aide preferred.
- Six months of general maintenance experience and use of hand/power tools preferred.
- Must have basic computer skills.
