Overview:We want to welcome you to AMC (Animal Medical Clinic). Are you interested in working in a fun and fast-paced general practice with rehabilitation, acupuncture and chiropractic services, weekends off, and no nights? Animal Medical Clinic (AMC), is a fast-growing hospital in Huntsville, AL that is looking to add a member to our team!
We are looking for a technician/assistant to work in our Canine Rehabilitation and Medical sides of the hospital. We are hiring for full time day shifts (4 days a week, 10-hour shifts) and have weekends off. No experience needed, we can help train. The Veterinary Canine Rehabilitation Technician/Assistant and Veterinary Assistant has responsibilities of a implementing therapy modalities (treatments) and treatments prescribed by the Rehabilitation Veterinarian to help patients’ recovery from injuries, some post-surgical procedures, diseases, illnesses, and other medical conditions that leaves a patient needing to improve in mobility, balance, and strengthening. In Addition to working alongside our team and Doctors to care for our furry friends in our general practice.
Responsibilities / Qualifications:
Job Description (not limited to):
- Professional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptoms
- Laboratory procedures including but not limited to: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood chemistry, and fecal
- Diagnostic imaging and implementing safety protocols of fellow staff members
- Help triage phone calls, appointments, or walk-ins, as necessary. Reviewing medical records as necessary to assist in those triages
- Perform appropriate patient restraint for examinations and procedures
- Becoming familiar with most major illnesses and the appropriate treatment
- Acquire, prepare, and ship laboratory specimens along with running automated CBCs, running various chemistries, and collect, evaluate, and report urinalysis results.
- General nursing care such as: accurately obtaining and assessing patient vitals (temperatures, pulses/heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, pain score, etc.), auscultation of the lungs, prepare and administer nutrition
- Perform general venipuncture, peripheral/central/arterial catheter placement and maintenance
- Induction, surgical skin preparation, monitor and recovery of surgical patients for minor or major surgical procedures
- Admitting and discharging patients, client communication and education, answering phone calls and scheduling appointments
- Cleaning, stocking, general organization, and maintenance of equipment and supplies
Position Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts
- Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
- Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations, and work with others on a team respectfully
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Pay range of $12.00-$14.50/hour based on experience
