This opportunity is ideal for a Release Engineer with experience in creating PRs and proficiency in Python or other scripting languages. The role requires strong multitasking abilities to manage incidents across numerous Slack channels until resolution. You'll be joining a team responsible for building and maintaining IS&T's Mobile Applications, including the eCommerce mobile application, Retail and carrier services applications, Retail applications, and retail store applications.
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR
We are seeking an experienced Release Engineer to join our team, playing a pivotal role in managing and enhancing our software release processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Git/GitHub, GitOps, and Git branching strategies, with the ability to set up guardrails and cut branches seamlessly. You will be responsible for executing release cutovers, planning and coordinating events, and collaborating with various teams, including development, QA, operations, project management to efficiently triage issues. Attention to detail is crucial in this role. The position requires a technically adept candidate with scripting skills in Python or C commands for Git CLI. You will also be expected to conduct technical reviews, lead performance and DevOps team discussions, and make key technical decisions. This role involves regular meetings, both in-person and virtual. Your day-to-day responsibilities will also include monitoring ACL tickets, ensuring consistency, and addressing production issues.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- 5+ years of Release Engineering experience
- Proficiency in Python (preferred) and familiarity with other scripting languages
- Expertise in automation and release engineering processes
- Being able to pull and track data in regards to each release
- GitOps Expertise
- Git/GitHub, GitOps, Git Branching strategies (hands on - be able to cut a branch on day 1), Set up guardrails on Git milestones, labels.
- Experience with Technical Reviews and action items
- Make crucial technical decisions and initiate follow-up actions
- Create tickets to track technical decisions and their outcomes
- Coordinate and follow up on action items resulting from reviews
- Manage tickets and slack channels for action items
