Reliability Energy Engineer III - Omaha Public Power District

Assigned accountability for specific plant systems and equipment and provides timely technical on-site support for station activities, plant modifications, performance analysis, technical review of operating reports, evaluation of system performance, and complex technical analysis to troubleshoot and resolve plant issues. Position is primarily based at one station but may be called upon to serve any of the generating stations. Performance is measured by the reliability, material condition, safety, economics, and performance of assigned systems and projects.


1. Perform system health monitoring including identification of critical systems or components required for reliable plant operation, identify trends and issues adversely affecting reliability and performance, and develop corrective action plans for resolution as part of the reliability centered maintenance program.

2. Independently perform analysis or diagnostic evaluations and adapting and applying broad engineering principles and practices based on education and experience within own engineering discipline.

3. Accountable for detailed understanding of assigned systems including the principles of operations, typical operating configuration, historical issues, maintenance strategy applied, and modes of failure.

4. Apply basic project management principals to support the execution of large, complex, or time sensitive work.

5. Develop and lead complex troubleshooting of emergent plant problems whose resolution exceeds the skill of the Maintenance and Operations staff using broad techniques and engineering principals.

6. Accountable for a complete understanding of all applicable governmental, Code, Industry standards, and environmental regulations.

7. Accountable for the detailed understanding of internal procedures, policies, and reliability standards.

8. Accountable for safety, reliability, operability and economy of assigned tasks and projects.

9. Leads multi-disciplinary teams of both engineers and craft in execution of projects as assigned.









Qualifications



Required:

* Four (4) year Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (ABET-accredited degree) OR Professional Engineer (PE) certificate

* Four (4) years of equivalent engineering work experience. Special projects and committees including technical skills may be considered for experience durations. Master's degree may be considered for up to two years of experience.

* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the utility industry and power generation

* Knowledgeable in the various regulations and codes, which apply to the specific engineering discipline.

* Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to adapt the communication for a varying audience

* A valid driver's license


Desired:

* Familiarity and experience with Ventyx (Asset Suite), Cognos, AutoDesk (CAD, Inventor, Vault), Bentley MicroStation, PeopleSoft

* Engineer in Training (EIT/FE), PE License or other relevant industry-level education / certification

* Master's degree in engineering or business.

* Degree in engineering discipline related to power generation

* Demonstrated capabilities of researching engineering and operational issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and presenting recommendations.

* Advanced MS Office Professional Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

* Electric utility power plant operation and maintenance exposure.

* Understanding of codes and regulations applicable to power generation facilities

* Thorough knowledge of OPPD¿s T&D, Substation and Generation system.
