Remedial Special Education Teacher needed for Charter High School in Philadelphia PA - Invo Healthcare

INVO is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Remedial Teacher to support students who require additional academic assistance in core subject areas. This position is critical in helping students achieve grade-level competency, improve their academic skills, and foster a love for learning. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students who face academic challenges and will be committed to helping them succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instructional Support: Provide targeted instruction in subjects such as English, Math, Science, and Social Studies to students who are below grade level.
• Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Work with special education teams to implement IEP goals for students with learning differences and adapt instructional strategies accordingly.
• Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess students' academic abilities, identify gaps in their learning, and use data to inform instructional decisions.
• Lesson Planning: Develop and implement remedial lesson plans tailored to the needs of individual students or small groups, focusing on closing achievement gaps.
• Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages student engagement, self-confidence, and academic success.
• Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff to coordinate efforts in providing interventions for struggling students.
• Parent and Guardian Communication: Regularly update parents and guardians on their child’s progress, strategies being used, and additional resources that may help students at home.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in remedial education and differentiated instruction.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Certification: Pennsylvania teaching certification required. Certification in Special Education or Reading Specialist a plus.
• Experience: At least 1-3 years of teaching experience, preferably working with students in a remedial or intervention capacity.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use data to inform teaching practices.
  • Patience, empathy, and dedication to helping students succeed academically.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and tools to support remedial instruction.
