The Remote Estimator at Miller Industries, LLC plays a vital role in supporting our operations by providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for custom steel fabrication, HVAC systems, and related projects. This role is critical to our ability to win new projects and maintain strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and possess a deep understanding of the fabrication and HVAC industries. Success in this position means delivering precise estimates that align with project requirements, maintaining a high level of accuracy, and collaborating effectively with the sales and project management teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
In this position, you will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, assessing materials and labor needs, and preparing comprehensive bids. You will play a key part in our project planning and execution processes, ensuring that we remain competitive and profitable. Your work will directly influence the company’s ability to secure new contracts and maintain profitability, making you an integral member of the Miller Industries team.
Responsibilities:
Prepare Accurate Cost Estimates: Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings to develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for custom steel fabrication, HVAC installations, and modular mechanical enclosures.
Evaluate Material and Labor Requirements: Identify and calculate the materials, equipment, and labor needed for each project, ensuring that estimates reflect current market rates and internal capabilities.
Develop Bid Proposals: Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and cost breakdowns for clients, ensuring all estimates are competitive and in line with project requirements.
Collaborate with Sales and Project Management Teams: Work closely with sales and project management teams to ensure that estimates align with client expectations and project feasibility, providing technical insights during the proposal process.
Review and Adjust Estimates: Continuously review and adjust estimates based on changes in project scope, new information, or client feedback to ensure accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure competitive and profitable estimates.
Maintain Estimation Documentation: Ensure all estimates, proposals, and related documentation are well-organized, accurate, and readily accessible for internal review and client presentations.
Support Project Planning: Assist project managers in creating budgets and timelines based on approved estimates, ensuring smooth handover from estimation to project execution.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating for custom steel fabrication, HVAC systems, or similar industries.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Experience with estimation software and CAD tools is highly desirable.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen attention to detail for preparing accurate and competitive estimates.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain cost estimates and technical concepts to clients and internal stakeholders.
Organizational Skills: Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of materials, labor costs, and industry trends within the custom steel fabrication and HVAC sectors.
