Repair Technician I - COMPASS MINING, INC.

About the role

Responsibilities

• Implement repair procedures and best practices to optimize efficiency and ensure quality standards are met.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and production, to address recurring hardware issues and implement design improvements.
• Maintain inventory for repair parts and equipment, ensuring adequate stock for your workstation.
• Conduct root cause analysis on failed ASIC devices to identify trends and inform product development efforts.
• Work with new team members on repair techniques and procedures, promoting a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
• Maintain documentation of repair activities, including repair logs, failure analysis reports, and equipment calibration records.
• Collaborate with Leadership to address customer inquiries and escalations related to ASIC hardware issues.
• Participate in research and development with external providers, evaluating new products.
• Evaluate non-OEM ASIC parts, components and tools to determine if they are viable for deployment to sites.

Qualifications

• A degree in electronics engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent certifications and work experience.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in electronics repair, with a focus on computer hardware or similar devices. Experience with Bitcoin mining hardware is a significant advantage.
• Proven expertise in component-level repair, including the use of oscilloscopes, soldering, and reballing.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift and handle heavy equipment.
• Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving industry, with a commitment to continuous learning and skill development.
