About the Job
The Flynn Lab, led by principal investigator Ryan Flynn, is focused on exploring the interface of two key biomolecules, RNA and glycans, by developing and implementing chemical, biochemical, and genetic tools. Understanding the regulatory mechanisms underlying glycoRNA and the interface of the secretory pathway and nucleic acids will have implications for the basic biology of processes such as stem cells, cancer, and regeneration.

This Research Assistant II will be responsible for:
- Assisting and overseeing variety of projects that center around mammalian cell culture and RNA biochemistry.
- Isolating, purifying, and characterizing RNAs from many different cell types and cell sources, paired with downstream analytical methods.
- Assists in troubleshooting procedures if experimental results are unexpected or quality of specimens is poor.
- Conducts literature searches and reviews, compiling information for journals and suggesting uses for new techniques to the P.I.
- Oversee inventory management, order reagents, ensure all supplies are adequately stocked and current, and maintain equipment.
- Collaborate with the PI to ensure efficient lab organization and operations.
In order to qualify, you must have:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM & Psychology and minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- Ability to make a long-term commitment of 3-4+ years. The team seeks someone eager to grow their career within the lab and at Boston Children's Hospital.
- Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth, experienced based knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
