THE OPPORTUNITY
Vir Biotechnology is seeking a RA I contractor to join our team. In this role you will work on a cross functional team to advance the Oncology research and clinical manufacturing programs. Under the guidance of experienced scientists in the company, you will work with the downstream process development team to implement chromatographic techniques, manufacture proteins from E. coli feeds, and deliver high quality material for in-vitro and in-vivo research projects. You will work cross-functionally and be exposed to other groups within the company to advance programs from discovery into development.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Prepare reagents to support downstream purification and development activities.
- Prepare media to support E. coli fermentation up to 10 L scale.
- Work under supervision of scientists to conduct scientific research using chromatographic techniques.
- Exposure to cutting edge equipment used in drug manufacturing including AKTA FPLCs and Thermo HPLC systems.
- Document day-to-day activities, keeping accurate records of experimental details and results related to assigned projects.
- Maintain a high level of scientific integrity and laboratory safety.
- Assist in ordering supplies and maintaining the laboratory to conduct necessary activities.
- Maintain project timelines and actively participate in team meetings.
- Actively seeks opportunities to continuously improve and learn.
WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field with 1+ year experience in a biotech, medical laboratory, or academic setting.
- Laboratory experience with FPLCs and HPLCs a plus
- Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced team environment.
- Exceptional planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Professional interpersonal skills, excellent oral/written communication skills.
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE OFFER
The expected salary range for this position is $30 to $35/ Hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
