Job Description Summary:
The George Washington School of Nursing (GW Nursing) drives innovation and improvements in health care worldwide through the education of compassionate nurses, esteemed educators and researchers, entrepreneurial leaders, and influential policy experts. GW Nursing is seeking a Research Associate, SON to provide support to the Principal Investigator and research team during the ExPAND project.
The ExPAND Project, funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and based in GW School of Nursing, is recruiting a Research Associate to be an integral part of the project team. The ExPAND Project is implementing a national five-year project to improve shared decision-making and patient choice for people with kidney failure. Project staff will work with approximately 25 kidney disease clinics across the country. Each clinic will sequentially implement two strategies for interrupting the powerful dialysis default, broadening patient treatment choices, and involving patients in shared decision-making.
The project team has extensive experience implementing innovation in kidney supportive care, advance care planning, communication skills training, and end-of-life care in multi-site, complex, pragmatic research projects. This position will support the Data Manager for the ExPAND Project in ongoing data management activities. The team is seeking someone who has a deep interest in data management and is comfortable speaking with diverse audiences in healthcare.
The Research Associate will:
- Collect research data from clinical sites, communicating frequently with clinical site personnel to resolve data collection and management issues.
- Audit data for completeness and accuracy and work with site personnel to correct errors.
- Maintain and enhance data collection tools and training materials.
- Produce interim data reports, including descriptive statistical analyses (frequencies, proportions, means).
- Help create and maintain software for data monitoring and reporting, preferably in R programming language.
- Provide administrative and technical support for the project as needed.
- Provide administrative and technical support for collaborative calls and webinars.
- Aid in planning project meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with research data collection and management.
- Experience utilizing data management and analysis software. Preferred experience with REDCap and the R programming language.
- Strong communication skills. Preferred experience communicating with patients, clinicians, and researchers.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience in public health research with knowledge and/or interest in kidney-supportive care education and implementation projects.
Hiring Range
$43,888.00 - $64,601.04GW Staff Approach to Pay
