Research & Development (R & D) Engineer
We are a global leader in the design and manufacturing of systems and components for drug and vaccine production. We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented R&D Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge products that align with our strategic goals.
The R&D Engineer will design and develop innovative systems and components, leading projects from concept through commercialization. This role involves forming and managing project teams, conducting testing in our Product Development Lab, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches
Location : Camarillo, CA
This is a full time, direct hire position
Salary : $62,500 - 82,000/year (DOE)
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer specifications and requirements to inform design choices
- Prepare scaled drawings using CAD and SolidWorks based on preliminary concepts
- Conduct hands-on testing in our PD Lab for proof of concept and performance
- Produce detailed designs, working drawings, and bills of materials
- Document all design and prototyping steps for traceability
- Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Sales, and Purchasing teams to finalize product designs
- Develop and execute testing protocols for design verification
- Prepare SOP and FMEA documentation upon prototype approval
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement CAPAs if necessary
- Partner with business management and marketing teams to align product ideas
- Perform market research and collaborate on product feasibility
- Redesign existing products to improve functionality or reduce costs
- Oversee production processes and resolve product issues
- Present product designs to management and stakeholders
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field
- 3+ years of R&D engineering experience preferred
- Advanced analytical and mathematical skills; strong mechanical design knowledge
- Proficient in CAD, SolidWorks, and 3D printing software
- Strong communication skills and project management expertise
- Detail-oriented with the ability to translate concepts into physical designs
- Experience in manufacturing/production (cGMP environment is a plus)
- Familiarity with Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Mechanical drawing, drafting, or production assembly experience preferred
