Responsibilities
This position is responsible for conducting immunological studies in vitro and using vaccine models in mice. This role will work to support the development of rOv-ASP-1, a novel adjuvant for human use. It will establish the mechanisms by which it exerts its activity and substantiate its potential use as an immunomodulators using SARS model and other vaccine models such as influenza.
- Conduct and design independent research under the direction of lab Principal Investigator (PI).
- Culture of human and mouse cells: Set tissue cultures using defined cells to detect and analyze responses to external stimuli.
- Study the function of a Parasite derived proteins: Test the bioactivities of the recombinant adjuvant using suitable in vitro and in vivo assays.
- Immunize mice and test the innate and adaptive responses induced:
- Inject mice, collect blood and tissues and analyze the immune responses induced ex vivo to vaccine antigens and external stimuli by ELISA and FACS analyses and using other developed assays such as testing for presence and titer of neutralizing/killing antibodies.
- Develop protocols, execute them and solve problems if needed Independence, productively and creativity.
- Discuss protocols, experiment, outcomes, and future plans.
- Good communicating skills, record maintenance and paying attention to details.
Qualifications
Education: Ph.D.
Experience: 5 plus years of broad knowledge and experience in (human and mouse) cellular and humoral immunity.
For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $81,008.00/year to $91,532.00/year. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
